Collect(ion), Textiles, 2010
Collect(ing/ion), as the name implies, is a project about the habit of collecting, in particular about the habit of collecting souvenirs. Stones are commonly regarded as a very popular souvenir and can be found nearly at every place of the earth. Besides being omnipresent there also is an intrinsic time aspect to them. Stones collect memories.
The work includes an archive system that documents the found objects in their outter appearance and the corresponding memories and association it evokes. It is comparable with the way a collector documents his found objects. The interplay of the aesthetics, memories and associations was then used as the basis for a textile collection that gathers all these aspects in a subtle way and translates it into a set of simple designs.
