Matters of Habit, 2015
Matters of Habit2017
A collection of clothing materialising a detailed research on the interaction of the wearer and the garment. Matters of Habit is a continuation of the collection The Garments May Vary (2013). Based on detailed observation each garment deals with different aspects of daily interaction and handling of garments – unconscious habits, movement (including dressing and undressing) gestures, storage and care.
There are plenty of ways to hang up a coat, and depending on the garment, quite a few of them will do it no favours. Sling a nice new double-faced cashmere one onto a hook just below it’s collar and find a freshly minted hump in the fabric just a couple of hours later. –The Gentlewoman No.9, SS’14
The collection furthermore questions the border between garment and sculptural object by comparing a garments’ form while in use and it’s existence in absence of the wearer.
